General Section Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the La Quinta on Rte. 46 in Fairfield unless other plans are made. Meetings begin at 6:00 PM with dinner at 6:30 PM and the program at 7:30 PM.

Software Testing and Quality Assurance Techniques

A university perspective of what we teach, when we teach it, what should be taught, and creating a quality perspective in the fields of Computer and Information Science. Computer studies and related coursework rarely stress the need for accountability, repeatability or any degree of elegance in creating applications. The expected outcome is usually a correct answer displayed prominently on a screen. This approach to software emphasizes technical capabilities and lacks relevance to application development. It makes the exercises easy to grade, but does little to increase an understanding of the potential of application software. Introducing a quality perspective in our coursework will demonstrably change most aspects of what we teach and better prepare students for graduate work or the business world.
