Motion to accept July '07 minutes was approved unanimously.otion to accept May minutes as is approved unanimously.

Chair Report   L. Kahn

Lucy asked for volunteers to attend Ideas for Action conference sponsored by ASQ HQ in MN on September 23-25. This event will allow members to be part of planning the strategic direction of the society. Sandy Liebesman volunteered. ASQ HQ will cover the cost of the hotel and food. The board approved paying R/T airfare Newark to Minneapolis.

Treasurer Report   S. Serradilla-Smarth

Susan is investigating areas to trim spending. Areas under investigation include: post card printing costs, website service fee, and loss section is taking on general section meeting dinners due to $99 season pass, archive storage fees and section voice mail. Susan will check with Ralph regarding benefits of voice mail.
Question for Sandy C. - Has the printer been provided with updated mailing lists each quarter? Sandy reports the list is updated each qtr.
The section budget for 07-08 was presented and approved "as is" by the EB. It will be submitted in the proper format to National by 9/15/07.

Education   Carl Perini

Two courses are being offered in the current semester. 1) Six Sigma Bridge, Ed May - Instructor, 2) CQM/OE, Mike Parrillo -
Instructor.
The SOXI/ASQ Sarbanes-Oxley Workshop was rescheduled to November 8 and 9 in New York City. For information call +1.212.626.9016 or log on to http://www.soxinstitute.org/registration.htm
Carl Perini will be teaching an on-site course, Process Behavior Analysis at the Bergen Record. Seven students are participating.

Recertification   Hank Nanke

90 people from the section were certified during the last fiscal year. There have been for this fiscal year to date. Ed Barabas has volunteered to assist Hank Nanke as needed.

ASQ Exams   Paul Nair The next certification exams are schedule for October 20 with approximately 50 people registered.
The potential exists for offering various courses at Picatinny for Picatinny employees. Paul will research.
Placement   Ralph Hiltebrand Report submitted for posting on the website.
Section Audit   Joel Schwartzman Audit was completed and submitted on-time for the 06-07 seasons.
Section Management Program   Lucy Kahn

Activities are on target. Plan will be submitted on-time to National by Lucy K.

Membership   Karen Vernon

On-Track.

Scholarship   Russ Nichols On-track. No activity required until April '08.
Member Survey   Karen Vernon On-Track.
Programs   Joseph Kenol Speakers are booked and confirmed through February '08.
The board discussed the possibility of having our session's events posted on the ASQ National website as do many other chapters. Joe K will investigate.
Jim George will be the speaker at the upcoming General Section Meeting on 9/19 being held at B-D. Jim provided the group with a well thought out plan/preview of his presentation. The following EB members volunteered to assist Jim during his presentation: Lucy K., Susan S., Karen V., Joe K. and Mike P.
The November General Section Meeting will be held on November 28th to avoid conflict with member's Thanksgiving plans.
Arrangements   Wayne A. Merrifield On-Track. Wayne M. will look into alternative meeting venue options.
Spring Conference   Joel Schwartzman Planning for the Spring Quality Conference is on-track. The conference will be held on 4/3/2008.
The '08 30th Year Anniversary Conference may be the last one. Most of the driving force is retiring.
Quality New Jersey   Jack Frost No report.
NEQC   S. Liebesman

Sandy L. reported a conference call is scheduled for 9/28. Look at the NEQC website, www.neqc.org/seminars, for upcoming seminars. Workshops are being offered on November 8 & 9 by the SOX Institute.

Publicity Carl Perini Carl P. reported the education committee is allowed to send out 1 email/month advertising course offerings to the Metro, Tappan Zee and LI sections.
It was noted all section advertising should be included in these mass emails including monthly meeting info. seminars and etc. Send all advertising requests to Carl P.
Awards Russell Nichols No action required until March/April '08.
Archives   Mike Parrillo Received access information and will visit and access prior to next meeting.
Website   Sandy Cifrodelli A task force was formed to study website needs and management. Committee members include: Sandy C (if she accepts), Stephen Becker, Sandy Cifrodelli and Carl Perini.
